Typically, the ECE mark consists of letters and numbers, such as ECE-44-03, ECE-44-04 and ECE-R-129. The mark is visible on the seat itself and will typically also indicate a certain weight class for the children the car seat is suitable for.

If the car seat is marked specifically with ECE-R-129, it means , that it is an i-Size chair. This type is side impact tested and can only be mounted via isofix mounts in the car. In addition, i-Size chairs are also equipped with a measure of how tall the child must be to use the car seat.

Choosing a car seat: this should you consider before buying a child seat for the car

When it comes to children's safety, you must never compromise. Because nothing is more important in the world than taking good care of our children. Especially in traffic, it is essential that your child sits comfortably and safely in his car seat, and therefore it is also a good idea to familiarize yourself with the rules as well as the seat's functions.

In general, there are three things you should keep in mind before buying a new car seat:

1. Your child's weight, height and age.
2. The child's and your needs for functions.
3. Which car the car seat will primarily be used for i.

Assembly and installation of your child's car seat must of course always be done in accordance with the instructions provided by the manufacturer. However, be aware that not all child seats can be installed in every car. • Car seat 0-13 kg: This is described as a baby car seat that can be used from the time the child is born. With this type of seat, the baby must face the direction of travel in the back seat, or in the front seat if the airbag is switched off. Baby seats for the car can be installed in a 3-point harness or using a base or isofix. If you choose an i-Size baby car seat, your child must sit rear-facing for the first 15 months.
• Car seat 0-18 kg: This type can also be used from your child's infancy up to approximately 4 years. The chair can be both rear-facing and forward-facing, as long as applicable safety regulations are met. With a 0-18 kg car seat, you get a baby and junior car seat in one. If you choose an i-Size seat, it may be used as long as the child is under 105 cm tall and under 18 kilos.
• Car seat 9-18 kg: This car seat can be used both rear-facing and forward-facing. The rear-facing one is safest, but requires more space, while the forward-facing one is easier to remove.
• Car seat 9-36 kg: This type of child seat for the car can be used from your child is approximately nine months, and up until the child turns 12. It is therefore a more long-term investment, which ensures you a good and practical car seat for many years to come.
