When the founder of Lalaby, Laura, became pregnant with her daughter, she was given a baby package with children's clothes by her mother and aunt. The children's clothes were made by her own mother when Laura herself was small in the 1950s. To Laura's surprise, the clothes were similar in style to something we can find today in a fine children's store. The clothes were classic and of fine quality. Laura could therefore dress her daughter in clothes that were over 60 years old. This sweet story was the starting point for Lalaby. When Laura later had her second child, it became thought-provoking for her when she had to decide which clothes she wanted to keep and which she wanted to pass on.

This story of sunshine became Lalaby and thus the focus on the clothing's possibilities to be passed down through generations. We love when designers like Laura herself have an experience with her and thus shape her source of inspiration into designs and reality.

The design at Lalaby is characterized by a sustainable and timeless aesthetic with references to the children's wardrobe from the 1950s, which is the period when Laura herself got baby clothes. Isn't that a rather sweet story?

In relation to 1950s fashion, Lalaby's intention is primarily to work with natural qualities that last for many years, and like one did then; to repair and reuse from child to child instead of buying new. In this way, something is created that is so timeless that it is still beautiful two generations later. They were good at it in the 1950s/60s and in the decades before that - before fast fashion and synthetic qualities came along.

The name Lalaby was created from the name of Lalaby's founder, Laura Lawaetz. As the name indicates, it is a combination of first and last name - i.e. Laura by Lawaetz.
