The Danish flag is almost a symbol for everything that we Danes associate with traditions, togetherness and fun with those closest to us. Langkilde & Søn was founded by Oluf Langkilde in 1938. Oluf was originally a sailor, but after a fall from a mast, sailing was over, and he instead got a job repairing the Navy's flag.

The work was carried out in a small loft in Nyboder, Copenhagen, and it quickly developed into a small flag factory. Since Langkilde & Son passed on by the family; first by son Gunnar and his wife, Kirstine, then by daughter-in-law, Lisbeth, and in 2009 the 4th generation took over the company.

With Lisbeth's daughters, Nicole and Chantall, behind the helm , the company has undergone a modern development, where new ideas and products have been added to the portfolio - of course to the same high standard as before and with respect for tradition and the craftsmanship, Langkilde & Son has always been characterized by.

Langkilde & Søn is not only reputable among companies and private individuals. The company is also one of only 103 Danish companies and individuals who have been awarded the title, Royal Court Supplier. 

However, it is the court marshal who assesses whether a company lives up to the high standards the predicate requires. The selected applications are then presented to the Queen, after which she personally appoints the new court supplier.

For 75 years, Langkilde & Søn has been a Royal Court supplier and can therefore be considered one of the best in his field. You are thus guaranteed products of the best quality, regardless of whether you buy their birthday tablecloth or their small flag vines to decorate the home.

In addition to the classic cheer flags and table flags, you will also find some of the most beautiful flag garlands and birthday banners in the series. These can be used on all festive occasions and look particularly good hanging over the door, between the table lamps or on the kitchen island.

Dannebrog flags on string can of course also be used for the Christmas tree. And there are not many Christmas decorations that beat the Danish flags, which really help to highlight what Christmas means to most families: namely, tradition, celebration and color in a cold time.

When you buy a flag vine or a fabric garland with Danish flags from Langkilde & Son at Luksusbaby, you can choose between two different sizes. Both the large and small flag vine have 10 flags distributed over 320 centimeters of sailmaker's twine, while the flags themselves measure 7x10 cm on the large and 3.5 x 5.5 cm on the small flag vine. 

The flags are of course handmade and sewn in real flag cloth, so they can be used both indoors and outdoors.

Since Langkilde & Søn was founded in 1938, flag cloth was made from pure wool. But wool is a fragile material, and therefore does not last very long - especially not when a flag is hung 8-10 meters in the air in all kinds of weather.

In collaboration with a weaving mill in England, Gunnar and Kirstine Langkilde therefore developed a woven flag cloth that in texture and feel resembled wool as much as possible. The result was a flag cloth with great breaking and color strength, and it is this weave that the company still uses for its products to this day.
